Thailand donates US$200,000 to help Syrians

BANGKOK, Jan 10 (TNA) - The Thai government will donate 100,000 US dollars to the Jordanian and Lebanese governments each to assist Syrian refugees now staying in those two countries. A Thai Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman said the money would be given to help more than three million Syrians now taking refuge in the two countries on a humanitarian basis. Thailand, said the spokesman has been monitoring situation in Syria since 2011 and it realises that Syria’s neighbouring countries have taken responsibility in sheltering the Syrians on humanitarian grounds as well as constantly providing medical care to those wounded Syrians. Presently, the spokesman said they need more food, drinking water, medicine and shelter.
