Thailand earns over Bt100m from illuminated boats procession 2012 in Northeast

NAKHON PHANOM, THAILAND, October 31 (TNA) - Thailand is foreseen to earn over 100 million baht tourism-related revenues from this year's illuminated boats procession in the northeastern Nakhon Phanom province, set from October 23-30. Nakhon Phanom's chamber of commerce chief Mongkol Tansuwan made the forecast on Wednesday, acknowledging there were more international tourist arrivals in the northeastern Thai province for the traditional illuminated boats procession this year, compared with those of last year. Mongkol, therefore, insisted that more than 100 million baht should be changed hands during the one-week illuminated boats procession, covering the international visitors' spending on accommodations and food at local restaurants. The Nakhon Panom chamber of commerce chief said that economic data gathered from this year's illuminated boats procession will be used for further developing strategies to draw more international tourists into the province in the future.
