Thailand to expand Suvarnabhumi and Phuket Airports

BANGKOK, October 27 (TNA) - Thailand will expand the country's main Suvarnabhumi International Airport and Phuket Airport, as part of the government's new mega investment on national infrastructure development plans in preparation for the formation of the ASEAN Community (AC) by the end of 2015. Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha said that the expansion of the Suvarnabhumi International Airport will start next year, covering the airport's terminals, aircraft bays and parking buildings. For Phuket Airport, the prime minister acknowledged that its expansion will also start next year, covering the construction of 15 more aircraft bays and new terminals. The prime minister pointed out that the expansion of the two airports will also help boost national competitiveness in terms of transport connectivity with other countries in the region. (TNA)
