Thailand to follow UNSC resolution on Syria

BANGKOK, September 2 (TNA) - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul has reiterated that Thailand is prepared to follow the UN Security Council's resolution on Syria. Surapong, again, announced Thailand's stance on Monday, assessing that the situation in Syria should not seriously affect Thailand. Surapong told journalists that the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs has, however, issued an official statement condemning the use of chemical weapons in Syria, which has resulted in a number of casualties in the country. According to the statement, such the act in Syria constitutes a blatant violation of international norms and a crime against humanity and Thailand, therefore condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the use of chemical weapons in Syria. The statement indicated the international community is to ensure that those who are responsible for such the heinous crime must be held accountable for and brought to justice. The deputy prime minister said that the Thai government will, from now, monitor Washington's reaction on Syria's case. (TNA)
