Thailand has done its best to tackle human trafficking

BANGKOK, June 27 (TNA) – The latest Trafficking in Persons Report that the United States will announce tonight will have no impacts on Thailand’s anti-human trafficking efforts because it is doing its best on the issue, Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai said. The Thai government always attached importance to solutions to human trafficking and the issue had been one of national agenda since September 2015, he said. “We will not mind if today’s ranking will improve or not because Thailand has done its best and will continue to do so, no matter how the ranking will turn out. We have tried to succeed in solutions relating to fisheries. Besides, we are tackling the issue made by Thais and the foreigners who arrive and cause the problem here,” Mr Don said. Regarding the planned trip of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to the US in July, Mr Don said that main events of the prime minister and the US president were being considered and the trip would have to wait for the readiness of both leaders. “Their schedules have not been settled. Mr Donald Trump will attend the G20 meeting in July. Thai authorities must study the schedules of Mr Trump. Our side has scheduled tasks too. At this stage, the visit has not been set,” Mr Don said.
