Thailand holds 2nd day of phone number auction

BANGKOK, March 19 (TNA) - The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) expects to earn 30 million baht on the last day of the “beautiful” mobile phone number auction. NBTC runs the two-day auction of sought-after mobile phone numbers between March 18 and 19. A hundred numbers are reportedly put up for auction each day. NBTC secretary-general said the auction was well received by the public. He added that 19 bidders took part in the Sunday activity with 30 million baht expected to be spent. In the morning, the phone numbers with seven-digit string of the number 8 and 9 still proved most popular. The most-expensive number was 0929999999, which was sold for 4.51 million baht. NBTC is auctioning off 25 phone numbers with seven-digit string of the same number and 75 for six-digit string of the same number. The floor price of seven-digit strings is set at three million baht and six-digit strings at 500,000 baht. (TNA)
