Thailand holds field day to prepare for 2017 growing season

BANGKOK, April 17 (TNA) – Thailand’s Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and agricultural learning centers nationwide held a field day on which local farmers can gain first-hand information about farm technologies in preparation for the 2017 growing season. Parinya Pangsombat, spokesman of the ministry, said the ministry in collaboration with relevant units organized the field day to promote the use of farm technologies, suitable for each area, as well as introduce local farmers to existing resources of agricultural learning centers. The Department of Agricultural Extension has been assigned to take responsibility for the event. Somchai Charnnarongkul, director-general of the Department of Agricultural Extension, said the department instructed agriculture officials in each district to work with committees of the learning centers and local officials to set goals in terms of product development and problem solving, and identify knowledge-sharing topics for the field day. In addition to sharing technology knowledge, the event in each area features agricultural services, exhibitions and products from local farming communities, he added. (TNA)
