Dr. Kamjorn said the objective of Thailand's host of the contest is to honour Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Walailak on the auspicious occasion of the Princess's 60th birthday anniversary and to provide a good opportunity for Thai youths to express their talents and exchange their knowledge with international friends who are also interested in chemistry. The senior official noted that four Thai high school-level students have been selected, out of a total of 70,000 nationwide, to represent the country in the world-class competition. According to the senior official, Thailand's host of the Chemistry Olympiad 2017 is also aimed to encourage and inspire both local students and teachers to study and teach science and technology, a field which could develop new innovations and technologies in line with the Education Ministry's policy in order to benefit the national economy.
