BANGKOK, November 9 (TNA) - Thailand hosts the 1st ASEAN Conference on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (ACCPCJ) in Bangkok during November 9-11, a new integrated step in the regional legal sector participated by all relevant parties. While opening the three-day ACCPCJ on Wednesday, Thai Justice Minister General Paitoon Khumchaya said this week's regional gathering is aimed to set a new milestone for the regional legal sector, in which legal cooperation is integrated. General Paitoon noted that the three-day conference serves as a platform for all relevant parties, including government agencies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) from all member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to exchange opinions for the further development of laws in the region. According to the Thai minister, discussions at the three-day ACCPCJ were set to be focused on two agendas, including measures against illegal trade of natural and scarce resources in each ASEAN member country and the protection of youths under the justice system, both of which should bring about more comprehensive development of laws in the region.
