Thailand joins ASEAN Air Chiefs Conference

BANGKOK, September 24 (TNA) - Thailand participates in the 11th ASEAN Air Chiefs Conference (AACC), held in Myanmar from September 24-26. Accompanied by his entourage, Thai Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Prachin Juntong left Bangkok for Naypyidaw, Myanmar's captial, on Wednesday. The meeting is aimed at exchanging views on defence cooperation for the sake of peace and prosperity in the ASEAN Community (AC), set to be formed by the end of 2015. Air Chief Marshal Prachin, who is also new Thai Transport Minister and a deputy chief of the army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), is scheduled to address the regional forum on “Search and Rescue” on September 25. The retiring Thai air force chief will also use the opportunity to bid farewell to his ASEAN counterparts. After retiring from the Thai air force chief on September 30, 2014, Air Chief Marshal Prachin will remain in office as the transport minister and the NCPO deputy chief. (TNA)
