Thailand launches first Smart Job Centre

BANGKOK, January 19 (TNA) - The Thai government has officially launched the country's first "Smart Job Centre" at the Ministry of Labour in Bangkok, aimed to provide no less than 50,000 jobs to Thai nationals of all groups within a year. Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan on Monday inaugurated the first Smart Job Centre for Thais, in which modern technologies are used to serve job seekers wanting to work in the country or overseas, including those who want to change their jobs and even persons with disabilities (PWDs). Meanwhile, Permanent Secretary for Labour Nakhon Silpa-archa, told journalists that the Smart Job Centre, aimed to also reduce the unemployment rate in Thailand, will be later expanded to other provinces with a demand for a number of workers, namely Phuket in the Thai South, Chaing Mai in the Thai North and Khon Kaen and Nakhon Ratchasima in the Thai Northeast. Nakhon suggested, however, that Thai workers always develop their knowledge, experiences and skills, stressing that all Thai job seekers are welcome to the Smart Job Centre. (TNA)
