Thailand, Malaysia cooperate on last month's Bangkok bombings

BANGKOK, September 23 (TNA) - Thailand's National Police Chief Police General Somyot Pumpanmuang says that he has sent his deputy, Police General Chakthip Chaijinda, to Malaysia to observe two alleged bombing suspects there. Police General Somyot on Wednesday confirmed reports that Police General Chakthip and detective officers have left for Malaysia, saying, however, that concerned authorities have not yet proved whether any suspect in Malaysia was behind explosions at the Ratchaprasong Intersection and the Sathon Pier in Bangkok on August 17 and 18. According to the national police chief, if the suspects having been arrested in Malaysia were proved to have involved in last month's explosions in Bangkok, Thai interrogators would later leave for Malaysia for questioning. The national police chief noted that the Thai police were not ordered to bring any suspect from Malaysia to Thailand for the time being. (TNA)
