Thailand, Malaysia discuss border security

BANGKOK, August 20 (TNA) - Thailand and Malaysia have discussed bilateral cooperation on security along their common border. Thai Supreme Commander General Thanasak Patimapragorn and his Malaysian counterpart General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Zulkifeli Mohd. Zin co-chaired the 29th Thai-Malaysian High-Level Committee Meeting in Bangkok on Tuesday, during with the issue was raised. The meeting also discussed the establishment of joint checkpoints for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief and the improvement of regulations for law enforcement agencies to strengthen bilateral relations. The latest meeting was aimed at boosting bilateral relations and developing cooperation on border security and affairs for mutual interest. Tuesday's meeting, with friendly atmosphere, was then proclaimed successful, as it has achieved its objectives. The Thai-Malaysian high-level committee meeting is held twice a year and Thailand and Malaysia take turns to be the host. Malaysia will host the next meeting in March 2014. (TNA)
