Thailand, Mongolia to triple bilateral trade within three years

BANGKOK, May 4 (TNA) - Thailand and Mongolia have agreed to triple bilateral trade value over the next three years, following Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra's visit to the landlocked but growing Asian neighbour from April 27-29, 2013. Speaking during her weekly TV and radio broadcast this morning, Yingluck told the public that her recent trip to Mongolia to attend the 7th Ministerial Conference of the Community of Democracies was the first visit to the Asian neighbour in four decades by a Thai leader and she reached the agreement with the Mongolian government. Yingluck acknowledged that the growing Mongolian economy has potential in several areas, particularly energy, and it is, therefore, a good opportunity for Thailand to clinch the agreement on expanding bilateral trade and investment, as well as on enhancing bilateral ties and cooperation in other sectors, namely agriculture, education and public health. The Thai premier said he also invited his Mongolian counterpart Norovyn Altankhuyag to visit Thailand in the near future to follow up progress of the bilateral agreements. Thailand and Mongolia will celebrate their 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year.(TNA)
