Thailand observes National Technology Day

BANGKOK, October 19 (TNA) - Thailand's Science and Technology Ministry held a ceremony on Saturday to mark the National Technology Day, which falls on every October 19, and to honour His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who is recognized as the “Father of Thai Technology”. Thai Science and Technology Minister Peerapan Palusak presided over the ceremony at his ministry in Bangkok, during which he and the ministry’s officials jointly laid a worship tray in front of the royal portrait of His Majesty the King. Thailand’s National Technology Day has been designated on October 19, the date when the beloved Thai monarch successfully tested a new formula of artificial rain, the first time in the world, at the Kangkachan Dam in Phetchaburi province in the Upper Thai South 41 years ago amid international observers. The innovation has continued to help address the drought problem in Thailand and has also been recognized and applied by foreign countries to help relieve their drought problem. Besides, the artificial rain technique has helped advance Thai technologies and science for public and national interests. (TNA)
