Thailand organises GMS workshop on sustainable farm development

BANGKOK, July 21 (TNA) - Delegates of member countries of the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) are gathering in Thailand to attend a workshop on the sustainable agricultural development, set from July 21-25. Thai delegates transfer their knowledge and use of bio-fertiliser technology for the sustainable farming system to those from Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos PDR China during the five-day training, held at the Thai Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives' Land Development Department in Bangkok. A field demonstration and visit by the participants to various bio-fertiliser production groups in Thailand, including those for improving soil, increasing soil nutrients, controling pests and protecting the environment, are also part of this week's GMS workshop, aimed to promote shared knowledge and experiences by experts. Land Development Department Director-general Apichart Jongsakul said that the training program is part of a farm support project sponsored by the Manila-based Asian Development Bank (ADB), aimed to promote and support Thailand and the other five GMS member countries to become the world's leading safe and environmentally-friendly food producing countries through regional economic cooperation.
