Thailand organises workshop on APSC preparations

BANGKOK, July 25 (TNA) - The Thai Ministry of Defence organises an international workshop in Bangkok on Friday, aimed to prepare regional military personnel for the formation of the ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC), as part of the ASEAN Community (AC), by the end of 2015. The workshop, inaugurated by Thai Permanent Secretary for Defence General Surasak Kanchanarat at the Ministry of Defence, was attended by military attaches of member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) who are stationed in Thailand and delegates from other concerned agencies to discuss and exchange ideas and experiences on APSC preparations of each member country. General Surasak said the workshop was a start of integrated operations and practices of all relevant parties and mechanisms in the region in the lead-up to the APSC, with, in case of Thailand, results of Friday's workshop to be worked out into action plans as part of national preparations toward the the APSC, which will be established along with the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC), under the AC, by next year.
