Thailand prepares for aging society

CHON BURI, THAILAND, September 23 (TNA) - As Thailand is preparing for the aging society in the coming years, a model school for the elderly has been opened in seaside Chon Buri Province in the East. Thai Social Development and Human Security Minister Police General Adul Saengsingkaew opened the model school for the elderly in Ban Bang Lamung of Chon Buri Province on September 23. Wednesday's opening ceremony was witnessed by high-ranking officials, including Anusan Thienthong, Director-General of the ministry's Department of Older Persons. The minister said that the construction of the model school started in 2013 and completed in July 2014, consisting of an office building, a training building and a residential building. Starting services in 2015, the model school functions as a learning and training center for people and staff of the ministry and its partners. Anusan told reporters, meanwhile, that Thailand is becoming an aging society and the school should be a model facility where there would be activities for the elderly and officials responsible for caring the elderly would be trained. According to the senior official, the model school serves his ministry's policy on improving the life of all groups of people. (TNA)
