Thailand prepares for Loy Krathong Festival

BANGKOK, November 9 (TNA) - The Thai government, through the Ministry of Interior, has ordered provincial authorities to intensify security measures during the upcoming Loy Krathong Festival late this month. Permanent Secretary for Interior Grisada Boonrach told journalists on Monday that authorities of all Thai provinces have been instructed to prepare measures to prevent possible danger from fireworks, traffic accidents and fires on the Loy Krathong day on November 25, when officials need to take strict control on traders of fireworks, maintain piers and buildings in Loy Krathong float venues and deploy rescue and security teams at piers, fire-prone areas and Loy Krathong festive venues. Grisada said that officials need to also take strict control on the sales of alcoholic beverages, the releases of sky lanterns and balloons, laser projection and the use of drones near airports. Besides, his ministry is operating the hotline number, 1784, around the clock to receive reports of emergency cases. (TNA)
