Thailand proposes Asia-Pacific water development fund

CHIANG MAI, May 17 (TNA) - Thailand has proposed the setting up of the Asia-Pacific water development fund during the ongoing 2nd Asia-Pacific Water Summit in Chiang Mai province of the Thai North. As the water summit entered its fourth day on Friday morning, water experts from 37 countries were exchanging views on water security and disaster relief; while the Thai government proposed the water development fund and relevant information exchange and offered to lead the fund raising. Many Thai government agencies also presented their successful water management projects, including the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), which introduced a community-based hydropower plant project in Baan Khlong Rua of Phato district in Chumphon province in the Thai South.
