Thailand Seeks To Ease Martial Law Enforcement

BANGKOK (Thailand), Sept 3 (Bernama) -- The easing of martial law in Thailand in the future depends on the country's situation and atmosphere, according to the military junta. Col Wintai Suvaree, the spokesman for the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), said "the timing is not yet scheduled". He said Prime Minister and NCPO chief, General Prayuth Chan-ocha stated that martial law would be eased in the future, depending on the situation. He said this when giving a briefing at the NCPO meeting on Tuesday. Wintai added, although martial law was still imposed nationwide, it only affected those who were against it, "which is a very small percentage", while most other law violation cases still used normal law. He said Prayuth explained the issue at the meeting, probably because there were some people who questioned its implementation as the country already had a government.
