Thailand Songkran vacationers return to Bangkok

BANGKOK, April 15 (TNA) - Vacationers celebrating Thailand’s traditional New Year long weekend and annual biggest water festival begin their return to Bangkok in massive numbers, with heavy traffic reported at key bus and train terminals. Thailand’s bus operator Transport Company said it expected 3pm to 8pm to be the peaks hours for Wednesday, with up to 150,000 people expected to arrive in Bangkok. Some 7,000 taxis would be needed at the city’s main Mor Chit bus terminal. The State Railway of Thailand meanwhile said it expected to carry up to 100,000 passengers on Wednesday through Bangkok’s central railway station Hua Lamphong. Most inbound passengers would be coming from Ubon Ratchathani, Si Sa Ket, and Uttaradit provinces. In addition, about 43,000 passengers were expected to arrive through Don Mueang airport, including 13,000 people on international flights and 30,000 others on domestic flights. (TNA)
