Thailand, South Korea ready to expand military cooperation

BANGKOK, May 28 (TNA) - South Korea and Thailand have agreed to expand military cooperation. The agreement was reached in Bangkok on Thursday when South Korean Ambassador to Thailand Jeon Jea Man led a South Korean delegation to pay a courtesy call on Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan at the Ministry of Defence. The South Korean ambassador said South Korean people are always thankful to Thailand, which is a first allied nation to send armed forces to take part in the Korean War during 1950-53. Defence Ministry Spokesman Major General Khongcheep Tantrawanit later quoted the South Korean top envoy as saying that South Korea always considers Thailand as a regional center and wants to boost bilateral cooperation in the military context, in addition to trade, investment, cultures and tourism. The deputy prime minister and defence minister stressed on Thailand's readiness to expand bilateral military cooperation, covering training, education, exchange of visits at all levels and defence industry.
