Thailand to talk with Cambodia before ICJ's ruling on Preah Vihear case

BANGKOK, October 17 (TNA) - Thailand's joint panel of agencies concerned will hold talks with Cambodia before a forthcoming verdict of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on a Preah Vihear Temple-related case, set on November 11, 2013, aimed to ensure peaceful co-existence between the two neighbouring countries. Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul told journalists of the plan on Thursday. Surapong said that the joint panel, comprising representatives of the concerned agencies namely the National Security Council (NSC), is expected to be formed at a meeting of the agencies concerned on October 21, to be chaired by Thai Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawatra. According to the deputy premier, Thailand's joint panel will then seek a meeting with Cambodian authorities concerned before The Hague-based World Court's ruling to discuss joint actions or activities, covering those of both countries' soldiers and other relevant parties, based on the ICJ's verdict in order to ensure peace and order along the common border, as well as co-existence of the two neighbouring countries.
