Thailand targets zero road accident during New Year holidays

BANGKOK, December 21 (NTA) - Thai police have launched a road safety campaign in Bangkok to raise public awareness on impacts of road accidents, as part of nationwide attempts to reduce road accidents during the upcoming New Year holidays to zero. Police officers dressed up as “Satan” and injured men, rode in the back of pick-up trucks during the road trip, which ran through several focal areas in the capital, including Siam Square, the Victory Monument, Rajadamneon Avenue and the Royal Plaza. Police General Adul Saengsingkaew, Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, told journalists that the campaign was aimed to remind people to pay maximum attention while driving and to raise their awareness on the impacts of road accidents, which could cause the loss of life and property.
