Thailand, UK sign MOU on Researcher Links

BANGKOK, November 19 (TNA) - Thailand and the United Kingdom have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on bilateral cooperation for the development of potential of Thai and UK researchers. UK Ambassador to Thailand Mark Kent and Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Barbara Woodward, as well as Thailand’s Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Kiattikun Chartprasert jointly witnessed the signing of the “Researcher Links” MOU between the British Council and Thailand Research Fund (TRF) at the British Embassy in Bangkok on Monday. The Researcher Links pact emphasizes on the establishment of a 17-million-baht fund to finance exchange research programs in order to further develop the potential of Thai and UK researchers through workshops and study tours, during which they can exchange their knowledge and experiences in various research fields, including Environmental Science, Biological Science and Humanities. The bilateral research collaboration between Thailand and the UK will also promote technological transfers and the introduction of more practical innovations, while paving the way for increased international cooperation on research and development (R&D) in the future.
