Thailand works with int'l community in anti-human trafficking

BANGKOK, June 2 (TNA) - As Thailand is working together with the international community in anti-human trafficking, the Royal Thai Police has invited representatives of 25 countries and international organizations for a meeting to present the Kingdom's serious actions against human trafficking. National Police Chief Police General Somyot Pumpunmuang met with the invited representatives of 25 countries and international organizations, including the Interpol and the United Nations, in Bangkok on Tuesday, to inform them that the Thai police and the Thai government have tried to address human trafficking-related problems seriously. Police General Somyot explained that Thailand's attempts include expanding investigation into human trafficking networks, searches for illegal migrant camps, hunts for wrongdoers and collaboration with relevant organizations. The national police chief insisted that the Royal Thai Police has sincerely solved human trafficking-related problems, especially having hunted for suspected influential masterminds and corrupt government officials, with arrest warrants having been issued against 84 suspects, 51 of them are in custody and 33 remain at large. The national police chief also presented the Royal Thai Police's future actions against human trafficking and answer questions about its operations. (TNA)
