Thailand's Caretaker PM not yet acknowledge corruption allegation

BANGKOK, January 17 (TNA) - The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has not set a date for Thailand's Caretaker Prime Minister and Defence Minister to acknowledge its investigation into her roles in the allegedly-corrupt rice-pledging scheme of her government. NACC Deputy Secretary-General Witthaya Arkompitak told journalists on Friday at this stage, his office is to inform the caretaker prime minister that it has set up a sub-committee to investigate her alleged involvement in corruption in the rice-pledging scheme. According to the NACC deputy chief, his office will also provide the caretaker prime minister with the list of members of the sub-committee, in which she will look into and can oppose to and seek a change for the sake of justice. The NACC deputy chief noted that his office can either mail the information to the caretaker prime minister or she can receive the message from the NACC by herself within seven days, and that the timeframe of the investigation depends on evidence, witnesses and the number and extent of the allegation.(TNA)
