Thailand's classic masked play welcomed by UN, US

BANGKOK, July 9 (TNA) - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister General Tanasak Patimaprakorn says that Thailand's classic masked play, or wellknown as Khon, has been warmly welcomed by the United Nations and the United States. General Tanasak told journalists on Thursday, after returning from the United States, that UN officials and American people have enjoyed the Thai classic masked play on Ramayana, which was recently performed at the UN headquarters and the Carnegie Hall Theatre in New York. General Tanasak said Thai delegates, led by he himself, were also honoured and welcomed equally as those from other countries, showing that both the United Nations and the United States appear to now understand Thailand's situation. Besides, the Thai deputy premier pointed out, all countries now apparently focus on their future cooperation. Meanwhile, Thai Ambassador to the United States H.E. Pisan Manawapat told TNA that Washington would issue its new report on human trafficking soon, after Thailand was placed in the lowest Tier 3 category for human trafficking concerns in its previous report. The top Thai envoy echoed the Thai government's efforts to seriously address human trafficking-related problems, particularly after March 2015, in order to uphold justice and dignity for all human beings. The top Thai envoy encouraged all parties concerned in Thailand to continue addressing the problems no matter whatever new ranking Thailand would be given in Washington's upcoming report. (TNA)
