Thailand's first female DSI chief starts working

BANGKOK, October 29 (TNA) - The new and first female Director-General of Thailand's Department of Special Investigation (DSI), Suwana Suwanajutha, has started working at her new office, after she was appointed by the Cabinet earlier this week. Suwana entered her new office for the first time on Wednesday, but her official appointment will be effective after it is endorsed by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej in a Royal Command and it is then published in the Royal Gazette, which are expected soon. Meanwhile, new Justice Minister General Paiboon Khoomchaya visited the DSI to present his policies to its staffs. General Paiboon told officials to boost the DSI's image and make the independent agency acceptable among the general public. Until October 15, 2014, Thailand's DSI had 1,803 cases, with its investigation of 1,465 cases having been completed, or 81.25 per cent, and 1,169 cases having been forwarded to the Office of the Attorney General (OAG), 116 to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) and two to the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PSACC), while it either halted investigation or imposed fines on 178 cases.
