Thailand's interim government insists on following roadmap

BANGKOK, June 30 (TNA) - The interim Thai government will follow its roadmap in order to build strong and stable democratic system. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister General Tanasak Patimapragon confirmed the stance on Tuesday, saying that the position is reiterated in a letter his Ministry of Foreign Affairs is sending to the US Embassy in Bangkok. General Tanasak told journalists that his Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expresses disappointment in the letter over the US State Department's annual report on the human rights situation in Thailand in 2014, as most of the issues happened in the previous Thai administrations. General Tanasak stressed that his Ministry of Foreign Affairs is preparing to clarify the issues to the US Embassy to Thailand. According to the deputy prime minister and foreign minister, the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs has frequently presented factual incidents to Washington and invited representatives of the US government to inspect operations launched by Thai authorities, but the US government appeared to refer to one-sided media and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) reports for writing and issuing the annual report. In the annual report, Washington has expressed concerns over human rights issues in Thailand and urged the interim Thai government to restore democracy soon. (TNA)
