Thailand's interim PM expected soon

BANGKOK, August 15 (TNA) - National Legislative Assembly (NLA) members are expected to elect Thailand's interim prime minister later this month. NLA Vice President Surachai Liangboonlertchai told journalists on Friday that the NLA is likely to convene on August 21-22 to elect the interim prime minister who is then expected to form the new Thai Cabinet by next month. Surachai noted that the election of the interim prime minister is based on Thailand's 2007 Constitution. Surachai elaborated that he plans to reschedule the NLA's timetable with NLA President Pornpetch Wichitcholchai so that the NLA would conduct the first reading of the 2015 budget bill on August 18 and its regulation-drafting committee would then finish NLA regulations within a few days; so, the NLA could convene on August 21-22 to elect the interim prime minister who would form the Cabinet within September.
