Thailand's old capital to organise world heritage fair on three religions

BANGKOK, August 31 (TNA) - Thailand's old capital city, Ayutthaya in the central region, will organise a world heritage fair early next month, aimed to demonstrate sound relations of three established religions in the Kingdom, including Buddhism, Christianity and Islam. Ayutthaya Governor Apichart Todilokvej, along with Director of the 3rd Regional Office of Thai Fine Arts Prateep Pengtago, President of the Islamic Committee of Ayutthaya Taweesak Kijcharoen and representatives of Chistians in Ayutthaya, held a joint press conference on Monday to announce the upcoming provincial event, set from September 4-6. The fair, "Ayutthaya World Heritage Fair of the Relations of Three Religions:Buddhism-Islam-Christianity", will be organised at the Chaiwattanaram Temple in Muang District, aimed at further promoting and fostering the three religions, which have been established in Thailand since the Ayutthaya period and have always been local people's spiritual support in doing good deeds for their peaceful lives. The three-day event will also include exhibitions on sound relations between the three religions in Thailand and showcases of imitated sites of provincial and national heritages, including the Phet Fortress, where Thailand's international trade began, Wat Phra Sri San Phet, an ancient Buddhist temple in the Ayutthaya era, Holland Village and St, Joseph's Church, as well as Kuthee Cho Fah, the first mosque in Ayutthaya. Besides, international visitors to the three-day fair can enjoy a cruise on the Chao Phraya River and a mini light and sound performance, as well as booths to shop for local dishes and souvenirs.
