Thailand's Princess Pa Foundation provides help to Malaysian flood victims

BANGKOK, December 30 (TNA) - Thailand's Princess Pa Foundation, under the Thai Red Cross Society, has dispatched relief packs to flood victims in Malaysia, as the neighbouring country is facing the worst flooding in 40 years. Her Royal Highness Princess Soamsavali on Tuesday afternoon assigned Vice President of the Princess Pa Foundation Dr. Pichit Suwanprakorn to present the 5,000 relief kits, 500 tents and 100 blankets to the Malaysian Embassy in Bangkok at a ceremony held at the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The royal assistance was received by the Malaysian Embassy's Deputy Chief of Mission Mohamad Nizan bin Mohammad and his team, on behalf of the flood victims. The Malaysian senior diplomat then extended his gratitude, on behalf of the Malaysian government, to Her Royal Highness Princess Soamsavali and the Princess Pa Foundation, saying that Thailand's immediate assistance shows sound bilateral relations between both countries. Earlier, Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister General Tanasak Patimaprakorn separately sent their messages, expressing their sadness for the worst flooding in Malaysia in four decades, to their Malaysian counterparts. Eight northern Malaysian states, including Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Perak, Johor, Kedah, Negeri Sembilan and Peris, adjacent to the Thai far South, have been hit by the worst floods since December 16, killing 10 people, forcing the evacuation of 99,466 others and the postponed opening of the new semester of schools in affected areas.
