Thailand's second tourist court to be opened Sept 24

BANGKOK, September 21 (TNA) - Thailand’s second tourist court for tourism-related cases will be opened in the southern resort Phuket Province on September 24. Virat Chinvinijkul, Secretary-General of the Office of the Court of Justice, announced the plan on Saturday (Sept 21), after the office has successfully launched the first tourist court since September 5 in Pattaya of Thailand's seaside resort Chonburi Province. Virat told reporters that, in order to facilitate victimised or accused foreign tourists before their departure from Thailand and to allow judges for cross examination of witnesses, a court room has also been prepared at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport for use in interrogating witnesses via video conference, with its inauguration set on September 23, 2013. If proven successful, Virat acknowledged, the court room at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport may be upgraded to be a branch of Samut Prakan Court in the future to facilitate foreign tourists.
