Thailand's Supreme Patriarch recovering following intestine surgery

BANGKOK, October 15 (TNA) - Thailand's Supreme Patriarch is recovering, following an operation to cut part of his large and small intestines. According to a statement issued by Bangkok-based Chulalongkorn Hospital on Tuesday morning, Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara Somdet Phra Sangharaja, the Thai Supreme Patriarch, was not feeling very well while his blood pressure was low due to blood infection. Following a thorough check-up, the statement said, doctors found that there were lack of blood flows in the large and small intestines of the Supreme Patriarch and wounds were also detected in his intestines. The physicians decided to give the Supreme Patriarch an operation to remove part of his large and small intestines. The statement indicated that the Thai Supreme Patriarch has been recovering following the operation, but the doctors have remained closely monitoring his condition. The 100-year-old Thai Supreme Patriarch was admitted to Chulalongkorn Hospital under the Thai Red Cross Society on February 20, 2002 and has been at the hospital since then. (TNA)
