Thailand's Suvarnabhumi Airport ranked world's 6th best large airport

BANGKOK, April 3 (TNA) - Thailand's main Suvarnabhumi International Airport was ranked the world's 6th best large airport in 2012 among 17 airports serving over 40 million global passengers yearly, moving up from its 7th position in the 2011 survey. Wilaiwan Natwilai, Director of the Suvarnabhumi Interntional Airport, told journalists on Wednesday of the Airports Council International (ACI)'s announcement last month of its 2012 ranking in the category of large airports. Wilaiwan acknowledged that the ACI's survey covered 199 global airports in 2012, when it sought opinions from over 400,000 air passengers on eight topics, including airport access and exit, luggage searches, passport checks, direction signs, services of staffs, atmosphere and cleanness. According to the Suvarnabhumi Airport director, the ACI conducts four surveys each year and its rankings are categorized by overall service quality, size and region. In the category of large airports serving over 40 million passengers annually, the top international airport last year was Singapore's Changi Airport, followed by Beijing Airport, Hong Kong Airport, Shanghai's Pudong Airport and Guangzhou Airport, the latter four of which are all in China. The director expressed her hope that Thailand's Suvarnabhumi Internationa Airport will be among the world's top five next year. (TNA)
