Thais in Cairo warned to stay away from danger-prone areas

BANKOKG, August 15 (TNA) - Thai people and students in violence-plagued Cairo, Egypt's capital, have been warned to stay in their residences or avoid nine danger-prone areas if they need to go outside. Jakkrit Srivali, Deputy Director-General of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Department of Information, told journalists on Thursday that, in response to clashes between government officers and supporters of former Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi in Cairo on August 14, the Thai Embassy in Egypt has advised Thai nationals, including students and workers, to try to stay only in their residences and follow up the updated situation closely. As demonstrations and unrest have continued in Cairo, the Thai Embassy in Cairo has, thus, seriously warned the Thai people in Egypt to stay away from nine areas at risk, in case they need to go out, including Autostrad Road, from Nasr City to the airport, Bahr Aazam Road in Giza, El Gamaa Bridge in Giza, 6th October 5 Bridge, 15th May Bridge, Kasr el Nile Bridge, Salah Salem Road in Heliopolis, Marghani Road in Heliopolis and 7 Omarat Square in Heliopolis. According to the senior official, all Thai people in Egypt remain safe and the Thai Embassy in Cairo is providing updated information through the 0101 9401243 phone number. (TNA)
