Thais celebrate end of Buddhist Lent

THAILAND, October 30 (TNA) - Buddhists across Thailand and even those crossing the border from neighbouring countries lively celebrated the end of the annual three-month Buddhist Lent Tuesday, by mostly giving alms to monks. In Mae Sot district of Thailand's northwestern Tak province bordering Myanmar, for instance, crowds of Thai and Myanmar Buddhists gathered at the Mae Sot Na Dan Temple, also known as Wat Luang, where a large number of Thai and Myanmar monks resided, to actively joined in a mass alms giving ceremony this morning. In Kantaralak district of Thailand's northeastern Si Sa Ket province bordering Cambodia and adjacent to the Preah Vihear Temple, an alms offering ceremony was similarly held marking the end of the Buddhist Lent, in which groups of Thai and Cambodian people participated. In Mueang district of Pichit province in the Lower Thai North, a number of people also crowded the Ta Luang Temple for a mass alms giving ceremony on the occasion of the end of the annual Buddhist Lent.
