Thais in Germany told to avoid talking about Bangkok bombing issue

BANGKOK, September 11 (TNA) -- The Thai consulate-general in Frankfurt warned Thai citizens to avoid discussions on the bombing at Ratchaprasong intersection for their own safety. The consulate-general issued the warning on its website yesterday (Sept 10) to Thai people living in Frankfurt and elsewhere and also advised them to take precautions every day. It stated that some news agencies reported the bombing on Aug 17 and specified that suspects were Turks due to the finding of many genuine and fake Turkish passports with them. Besides, there were criticisms that the bombing was meant to retaliate against the Thai government for repatriating Uighur migrants to China, so the bomb was planted at the Erawan shrine at the intersection which is a popular destination of Chinese tourists. As the person who planted the bomb has not been arrested and the nationality of other suspects and the bombing motive have not been concluded, Thai people in Frankfurt and other areas should avoid any discussions or arguments with foreigners on the bombing issue for their own safety, the Thai consulate-general stated.
