Thais hold activities to honour late king

CHIANG RAI, Dec 5 (TNA) – Thai people in Chiang Rai , Chiang Mai, and Phuket provinces held traditional performances and activities in remembrance of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and to mark his birthday's anniversary. A group of car lovers in Chiang Rai lined up their 989 vintage and classic cars in the shape of a Jeep off-road vehicle and a message saying “Chiang Rai People Love the King” to honor the late king, who passed away on Oct 13. In Chiang Mai, more than 3,000 people rehearsed a traditional dance show, which will be performed in front of a portrait of the late king this evening. Meanwhile, Phuket’s Karon Subdistrict Municipality in collaboration with the Phuket Drummer Association hosted drumming performances, covering royal compositions of the late king for the first time. The event featured 70 professional drummers and 70 shows to pay tribute the late monarch, whose exceptional musical talent is internationally recognized. The event, held on the beach drew attention from both locals and foreign tourists. (TNA)
