Thais warned of volcanic eruption in Japan

BANGKOK, September 14 (TNA) -- The Royal Thai Embassy in Japan warned Thais in Japan to stay clear of Mount Aso, Japan's active volcano, as well as to be aware of volcanic ashes after the volcano has erupted on Monday, sending plumes of smoke 2 kilometers into the air. The embassy updated its Facebook status today at around 9.43 am., local time, that Mount Aso, a popular hiking destination for tourists, located in the Kumamoto prefecture of Kyushu Island in the south of Japan has erupted. The Japan's Meteorological Agency, meanwhile, has raised the warning level for the eruption from two, where the public should stay away from the crater, to level three out of five, in which the public should stay clear of the areas surrounding the volcano, and warned the public to be aware of volcanic ashes. The Royal Thai Embassy has then advised Thais in Japan to monitor the situation and follow up the news from the Japanese government closely. (TNA)
