Three crewmen of sunken cargo ship rescued, three others remain missing

KRABI, THAILAND, July 9 (TNA) - Rescuers have saved three sailors adrift at sea after their cargo ship capsized off the southern Thai Andaman coast, between Racha Yai Island in Phuket Province and Phi Phi Island in nearby Krabi Province, on July 7. The Thai marine security officers on Thursday saved two more crewmen of the sunken cargo ship who are Myanmar siblings, after they had been washed ashore unconscious with minor injuries on Khlong Klong Beach in front of the Riviera Resort Hotel in Krabi, and took them for treatment at a local hospital. The two Myanmar crewmen said that their cargo ship encountered an engine problem and capsized by strong waves, causing all six crew members to be adrift at sea and separated by the choppy water, before both of them were washed ashore. On Wednesday, the Thai marine security officers first rescued a Thai crew member of the sunken cargo ship, a native man of Prachuap Kiri Khan Province in the Upper Thai South, who was washed ashore on Khlong Hin Beach on Lanta Island, after floating at sea by an oil drum for hours. The Thai marine security officers have, meanwhile, continued searching for the rest three missing crewmen of the sunken cargo ship. (TNA)
