Three Dead As Oil Pipeline Explodes In West Java

Bandung, W Java, Aug 28 (Antara) - Three people died in Subang, West Java, after an oil pipeline belonging to the state-owned oil company PT Pertamina exploded on Thursday, noted spokesman of West Java Police Adjunct Commissioner Martinus Sitompul. According to information gathered from the local people, the explosion occurred at around 5:48 a.m. West Indonesian Time (WIB) in Batan Desa Mandalawangi Sukasari village, Subang. Flames rising up to 50 meters high were seen at the site. "The explosion burnt down three semi-permanent houses located about 3 kilometers from the center of the blast. The fire killed three people living there," Sitompul reported. The oil pipeline explosion in Subang also injured five people who mostly got scorched by the flames. The fire also destroyed about 55 coconut trees and a motorcycle parked near the explosion site.
