Three European leaders satisfied with Thailand's growing economy

VIENTIANE, November 5 (TNA) - Leaders of three European nations have expressed their satisfaction with Thailand's growing economy and agreed to enhance cooperation with Thailand. The leaders of Poland, Norway and Italy also expressed their satisfaction with Thailand's political stability during their bilateral meetings with Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra in Vientiane, Laos' capital, this morning, on the sidelines of the 9th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM). The Polish, Norwegian and Italian Prime Ministers also promised to enhance bilateral cooperation between their countries and Thailand on trade, investment and other fields for mutual growth. The Thai prime minister and her Polish counterpart Donald Tusk agreed as well to exchange more visits of high-level authorities and to use each other’s country as regional investment bases and gateways to further boost bilateral relations, apart from bilateral cooperation on trade, investment, tourism, education, academic knowledge and military affairs. During her meeting with her Norwegian counterpart Jens Stoltenberg, Yingluck informed him of the political and economic situation and water management projects in Thailand and invited Norwegian business operators to expand their investment into Thailand, acknowledging that Norway's Government Pension Fund Global has increased and maintained its investment in the Thai capital market. The Thai and Norwegian premiers also discussed tripartite cooperation between Thailand, Norway and Myanmar. During her talks with her Italian counterpart Mario Monti, Yingluck also mentioned Thailand's political stability and economic policies, which have facilitated the expansion of trade and investment with Italy; while her Italian counterpart praised Thailand for continual growth amid impacts from economic problems in Europe.
