Three killed in plane crash in Thai Northeast

NAKHON PHANOM, THAILAND, June 2 (TNA) - All three people aboard a small training aircraft have died, after the plane crashed in Nakhon Phanom Province in the Thai Northeast bordering Laos. The tragic incident took place at 5:45am on Thursday, when the ill-fated plane, belonged to Nakhon Phanom University’s International Aviation College, crashed into a ricefield just about a few minutes after it took off from the provincial airport. Accompanied by rescue officials, including the chief of the provincial disaster prevention and mitigation office, Nakhon Phanom Governor Somchai Witdamrong rushed to the scene and found the three people killed. The trio include the pilot, an aviation trainer and a former provincial administrative organisation chief of the northeastern Maha Sarakham Province. Concerned authorities were investigating the cause of the fatal incident, while the provincial governor told reporters that he was finding ways to prevent such tragic incidents from reoccurring in the future, after a similar incident took place in February 2016 when a training aircraft crashed some 10 kilometres from the airport, but all people aboard fortunately survived.
