Three must-see astronomical phenomena tonight

BANGKOK, July 27 (TNA) - The National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand states that three astronomical events will happen on the night of July 27 through to the early morning of July 28. Mars is opposite the Sun and will be at the closest approach with the Earth in 15 years. Consequently Mars will appear unusually large and bright. Simultaneously there will be the second total lunar eclipse of this year. It will last one hour and 43 minutes, the longest in the 21st century. Besides, the Moon will be the farthest from the Earth this year. It will be a very special night when people can see the blood Moon beside the Red Planet. The National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand invites general people to witness the three astronomical phenomena at four main observation locations in Chiang Mai, Nakhon Ratchasima, Chachoengsao and Songkhla provinces as well as 360 sites of its network nationwide.
