Three QRC-PRC Pacts for New $400,000 Projects in Gaza

Doha, October 11 (QNA) - Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) signed Saturday three significant agreements with Palestine Red Crescent (PRC) to conduct specific programs and services worth nearly $400,000 for Palestinians following the recent war on Gaza. The agreements include projects such as purchasing two ambulance vehicles at a cost of $144,000, improving clinical rehabilitation services at Al-Amal Hospital in Khan Younes, at a cost of $115,000. Also, improving psychological rehabilitation and support for victims of the Israeli aggression on Gaza at a cost of $135,000. Commenting on signing the agreement, QRC Secretary-General Saleh bin Ali Al-Mohannadi said: "We are proud of our strong partnership with PRC, especially as its staff kept serving the Palestinians despite the bombings and destruction during the war. As such, we are keen on supporting it to continue its services for Palestine's needy and distressed people." For his part, Head of QRC Office in Gaza Dr Akram Nassar said: "We will soon initiate the clinical rehabilitation support project at the southern-Gaza Al-Amal Hospital, as it is the only hospital that still provides medical rehabilitation and support services following the destruction of Al Wafa hospital. Nassar added that QRC will work on boosting the capacity of the medical rehabilitation section at Al-Amal Hospital to meet the increasing needs and accommodate the large numbers of Palestinian injuries and patients. On the major role of the psychological rehabilitation and support for the victims of the aggression, Director of PRC's psychological Health Division Dr Fathi Fleifil described the project as positive, as it will provide emergency psychological support for the victims of the war, such as injured people, families of martyrs, children, and displaced people, as well as enhance the performance and skills of PRC psychological service providers, who have direct contact with the public. Fleifil noted that the project will rehabilitate and develop the seashore psychological release center in Deir Al-Balah, southern Gaza, to let the victims of the war release their stress and express their feelings, thus enabling them to overcome the negative impact of the war. He commended the firm relationship with QRC, which is in the best interest of the local community, including empowerment and capacity building for the emergency intervention team at various levels, such as training 250 instructors to provide social and psychological services in emergencies, both locally and regionally.
