Tight security for Chinese Premier’s visit to Chiang Mai

CHIANG MAI, THAILAND, October 12 (TNA) - Tight security has been provided to visiting Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, once he arrived in Thailand's northern resort Chiang Mai Province on Saturday afternoon. Chiang Mai Governor Wichien Putthiwinyu told reporters that the Chinese Premier is scheduled to attend a reception at the Royal Flora Raja Pruek on Saturday evening amid tight security, About 600 police in uniform plus a large number of plainclothes policemen have been assigned to provide protection to the Chinese Premier, who is paying his first official visit to Thailand from October 11-13 after taking his office in March this year. The Chinese Premier will have busy programmes during his two-day stay in Chiang Mai, including looking on local community goods under the One Tambon One Product (OTOP) Project in San Kamphaeng District and visiting an old school teaching Chinese, before leaving Thailand on Sunday.
