Tokyo Motor Show Opened to Press

Tokyo, Nov. 20 (Jiji Press)--Two-day press preview of the 43rd Tokyo Motor Show started at the Tokyo Big Sight convention center on Wednesday ahead of the show going public exhibition on the weekend. Joined by a total of 178 companies, the biennial trade show has 426 vehicles on display. Of them, 76 models, up some 40 pct from the previous 2011 show, make their world premiere. Japanese automakers will exhibit their cutting-edge technologies during the event, with industry leader Toyota Motor Corp. <7203> showcasing a fuel cell vehicle to be released in Japan, the United States and Europe in 2015. Fuel cell vehicles are called "ultimate eco-friendly vehicles" as they emit only water while running. Other major attractions at the show include Nissan Motor Co.'s <7201> electric sports car and the S660 Concept micro sports car of Honda Motor Co. <7267>. The Tokyo Motor Show will be opened to the public from Saturday through Dec. 1. END
